Winter Project Cohort - 7 Weekly Zoom Sessions starting 16th Feb

£60.00

Are you looking for some inspiration for your photography?

This February and March I will be running my first project cohort. This will be an 8 week challenge to produce a triptych of images for a specific theme.

Each week for 6 weeks I will host a 1 hour zoom session where I will give you a photographic challenge for the week. Each weekly challenge will be related to the overall theme. Each challenge will give you a direction for your photography and will hopefully help you see the world in a different way.

At the end of the 6 weeks you will be encouraged to choose three images that best represent your interpretation of the overall theme. You will also be encouraged to write a shot artist statement to accompany your images. The 7th zoom session will be given over to choosing images and writing your artist statement.

All the project images and artist statements will be collated and presented in a published zine and you will have one copy to keep at the end of the project.

The theme: Thresholds

Places available: 10

Dates: Weekly on a Monday evening from 16th Feb - 30th March

Aims of the cohort:

To create a small inclusive group to encourage your creativity

To help you understand how to tackle a small project

Weekly challenges to get you thinking

To provide a direction and purpose for your winter photography.

How the cohort will work:

The 2 month project time will be split into 6 weekly sessions where you will be encourage to go out and make images. I will provide you with some notes for each session and there will also be a presentation over zoom at the beginning of each week where I will give you examples for how to go about each challenge. During the zoom session you are free to ask questions, but I will also set up a group WhatsApp so that you can chat amongst yourselves if you need any help or encouragement throughout the session.

At the end of the 6 weeks you will be encouraged to choose 3 images from the ones you have made which you feel best represent your take on the theme of Thresholds.

Week 7 and 8 will be given over to selecting your images and writing a short artist statement which will help add context to your work.

At the end of week 8 I will put all the images and artist statements into a zine which will be published and each of you will receive your own copy to keep. The zine won’t be offered for sale it will be personal to the group.

Weekly zoom meetings will be held on Mondays at 7pm on the following dates: 16th Feb, 23rd Feb, 2 March, 9th March, 16th March, 23rd March, 30th March.

Each participant will be sent weekly notes via email so if you miss a zoom session you will still be able to take part in the weekly challenge. If you find getting out each week too difficult, don’t worry. The weekly sessions are there to provide some food for thought and some inspiration to help you come up with your three frames for the overall project. You have 6 weeks to produce these three images and come up with a meaning or story to link them all together.

Throughout the 2 months I will be on hand to offer advice and support to all participants.

You do not need to live locally to Suffolk to take part in this cohort. The project sessions will all be conducted over zoom and you can photograph any landscape you feel connected to.
