£55.00

Date: 29th May

Time: 8am - 11am

Following the workshop there will be a 1.5 hour zoom session on Wednesday 3rd June where we will discuss our image making and talk about how to approach post processing.

Location: Mellis Common, Mellis

Workshop Details:

Join me for a 3 hour exploration of Mellis Common, a 59 hectare traditional grassland common surrounded by thatched cottages and filled with abundant flowers. At the end of May the common is usually covered in a carpet of ox eye daisies and buttercups, but there are plenty of other less abundant flowers to work with.

We will be looking at landscape images using the flower carpets, discussing how to achieve different results using selective focus and wide open apertures. We will also be looking a flower portraits and will be working to create dreamy, ethereal images using the technique of ‘shooting through’ surrounding foliage and flowers.

Workshop Aims:

During the workshop we will be working to achieve the following:

A landscape image that captures the beauty of the common

A dreamy flower portrait

A triptych of three images that tells the story of the common through your eyes.

For this workshop you will need a landscape lens - something in the region of 24 -70mm and a macro or a telephoto lens to allow you to get up close with the flowers.
