Refresh your Spring Photography - 22nd May

£70.00

Date: Friday 22nd May

Time: 8am - 1pm

There will be an included (but optional) 1.5 hour long zoom session afterwards on Wednesday 27th May to discuss our images and look at post processing.

Workshop Details:

Join me for a Spring photography workshop where we will be looking at ways to refresh your spring photography. We will be working in two different locations; one woodland (Staverton) or grassland (Hollesley Marshes) and one coastal which will be either Bawdsey, Shingle Street or Butler Creek. The locations will be chosen nearer the time based on the flowers and foliage that are in bloom.

During the workshop I will provide tuition to help you complete the following challenges:

  1. To embrace the colour green. We will be looking at producing a montage of images from a woodland location that embraces the colour green. We will be looking at ways to make fresh and bright images that capture the essence of spring.

  2. To produce an emotive flower portrait. We will be working with light and depth of field to create soft dreamy emotive images. We will be looking at how images make us feel and will be working backlighting and bokeh to create emotion. Depending upon the conditions we will also be looking at the use of light and shadow and how this can play a role in flower portraits as well as wider scenes.

  3. To produce an image that is all about colour. We will be looking at colour combinations and pairings to create emotive images.

For this workshop you will need your camera, a tripod and a lens for wider scenes (something in the region of 24 – 70mm) and a macro or telephoto lens for more close up work.

The workshop includes:

A full set of course notes sent via email before the workshop.

5 hours of tuition in two locations chosen for their flowers / foliage. One location will be a woodland or grassland environment and the other will be a coastal location.

A 1.5 hour zoom session to discuss methods of post processing to create fresh, spring images.

The aim of the workshop is to think differently about your spring photography and to show you that you can make light, bright, emotive images that evoke the freshness of spring without photographing at sunrise or sunset.
