Photo and Process Full Day Workshop

£195.00

Join me for a photography day of two halves. This 1-2-1 session features a morning spent out in the field followed by an afternoon of post processing using Lightroom in my studio at Hollelsey.

The morning session will be held locally to my studio but can feature coastal, woodland or estuary landscapes. The content will be tailored to your needs but could include seascape and long exposures, woodland photography or be more generalised and cover camera techniques and settings and composition.

The second part of the workshop will take place in my studio in Hollesley and will cover post processing using Lightroom and Photoshop. Here you will learn how to approach processing, the things to consider and the methods I use to process my images. You will go home with print ready processed files.

Learn how to take well composed beautiful images. For me photography is not all about the latest gear, it is much more about connecting with the landscape and ‘seeing’ what is around you. All my workshops are tailored to your specific requirements and we will discuss these beforehand, but typically a session will include some or all of the following:

The technical side of making a photograph. This will include camera settings, ISO, aperture and depth of field, the relationship between ISO, aperture and shutter speed, white balance and the use of filters.

‘Seeing the landscape’. This is one of the most critical elements of photography. You can be technically brilliant with the camera but if you cannot see an image or put together a successful composition you will never reach your full potential as a photographer. In this section we will practice observation and composition and work with some of the rules for composition but we will also be aware that rules are guidelines only and should never be followed to the point where they stifle your creativity.

Long exposure photography. Practicing blurring moving elements such as water, grasses or clouds.

Post processing tuition. How to process a RAW file from start to finish – from deciding what work is required to establishing a workflow right through to outputting an image for print. How to use the various tools in Lightroom – this will include:

how to use the various sliders to make image adjustments

how to use masks to work on individual areas of your image

split toning and colour adjustment

how to remove unwanted elements from your scene

how to guide the eye through the image using dodging and burning.
