Description:
A fantastic opportunity to explore a beautiful but remote area of northwest Scotland. Assynt and Sutherland harbour some of my favourite Scottish landscapes and there is a good mix of coastal and mountain scenery. The coastline is varied with stunning white sandy beaches, azure blue seas and dramatic rocky cliffs, while the mountains are distinctive and impressive.
Locations include:
Loch Stack and the River Laxford which is right on the doorstep with the dramatic mountains of Ben Stack and Arkle as a backdrop.
Balnakeil Bay
Clachtoll, Achmelvich and Stoer Point Lighthouse
Clashnessie and Wailing Widow falls
Loch Assynt and Ardvreck castle
Durness and Oldshoremore beaches
Achnahaird and the mountains of Coigach
Lochinver and Suilven
These locations are a guide only and are subject to change depending upon the conditions.
The photography side of the workshop will be accompanied by some time with the computer looking at post processing using Lightroom and Photoshop. We will cover workflow and how to get the best from your images as well as looking at some more advanced techniques including panoramas, bracketing and focus stacking. I am keen to promote a relaxed and informal atmosphere on my workshops and there will be plenty of time for group discussion and image review.
The format of each day will vary depending on the weather and locations but we aim to take sunrise (7.30am) and sunset (4.30pm). Dinner in the evening will be informal home cooking in the lodge.
Dinner, breakfast and packed lunches are included in the price (please let me know of any dietary requirements at the time of booking).
