Aldeburgh Reflected
In the centre of Aldeburgh lies a model boating lake; a popular attraction that I remember from my youth. The lake began life as a military water tank and was enlarged in the 1960’s. It is a tranquil place close to the sea, overlooked by the historic Moot hall and the facades of numerous eclectic and colourful houses.
The images in this body of work are abstract representations of Aldeburgh born from the waters of the lake. They show a place dissolved, reassembled and reimagined through the constant movement of water and light.
The instability of the water’s surface echoes the evolution of the place itself evoking how structures change, how history blurs into reinvention and how things that are familiar get lost over time.
This zine is limited to 20 signed copies. It is 210mm square and features 24 pages, 19 colour images and an artist statement detailing the thoughts behind the project.
